Brushstroke Make-up and Hair School was the first of its kind to offer media make-up and courses from a famous film studio. Brushstroke now celebrates over 27years within Shepperton Studios offering training in make-up and hair for the media and fashion industry. Brushstroke has carved a name for itself being at the forefront of supplying talent to worldwide creative industries. Having the largest make-up and hair facilities in the UK and set within modern purpose built studios incorporating, make-up rooms, wig room, special effects work shop and High Definition and Photographic studio. In our earlier years, we ran courses from the BBC Television Centre- Wood Lane, London and Teddington Television Studios. We also offer student accommodation through our local agents.
Our aim has always been to work closely with the industry and make-up designers from film, TV, theatre and fashion to constantly refine our make-up and hair courses to produce professional world class hair and make-up artists. We offer well balanced, well rounded courses that are altered and updated in line with industry requirements by professional input.
1. Using lecturers currently active within the industry.
2. Allowing lecturers to only teach subjects appropriate to them i.e. fashion taught by fashion make-up artists, theatre by theatre make-up artists and so on.
3. For those students showing professionalism throughout their training, the ability to complete sections missed for acceptable reasons at a suitable time at no extra cost.
4. For those students showing professionalism offering a lifelong connection and the ability to refresh skills they may not have used for some time, which ensures our students stay at the top of their profession.
Brushstroke accepts students from the age of 16+ (school leavers) with no upper age limit. On completion of the course the student should leave with either a BTEC or ITEC qualification and more importantly our own highly recognised Brushstroke certificate of attendance equating to subjects covered. Whilst training students are encouraged to develop a portfolio, this is done utilising the skills of a professional photographer and guidance from lecturers within our photographic studio.
Brushstroke are accredited as a Premier College by ASIC (Accreditation Service for International Colleges) in order to offer visas for non EU students to study with us. Over the years students have studied with us from all over the world choosing us above others that the training we offer is second to none and will enable them to have the finest tools, techniques and guidance to forge a career within the industry in the country of their choice. Brushstroke operates an agency solely for our students and trained make-up artists. They will be held on our books for as long as they wish, as we are called upon from time to time to provide make-up artists with various levels of experience.
Prospective students are asked to read our prospectus in full and then to contact the head office to arrange a suitable time to visit. These visits although informal, are a chance for us to ensure that the student has been given all information necessary to decide that a career as a make-up artist within the industry is for them. They will also be given a chance to look around our facilities and speak to students and lecturers. This visit will also allow us to assess suitability for their chosen course and will be confirmed in writing.
