Four Month Media makeup and hair Course
This four month Media makeup course is designed to input as much theoretical information as possible, while offering complete hands-on training, to instil confidence in any situation. This course covers all the areas of makeup for Television, Stage, Special Effects, Studio Conduct, Basic Hair and Dressing of Period Styles.
Students also cover prosthetics, which includes face casting, sculpting and applying pieces. (To make larger prosthetics and also cover silicon, this can only be covered on our more advanced courses due to time scale, the 9 month and 2 year).
The syllabus will also include a full insight into the art of Wig-making and Dressing. This enables the trainee to decide whether to specialise in a particular subject or to become a competent “all rounder”.
Held at Shepperton Studios, the course offers an ideal training ground for both inexperienced and experienced and is open to all ages. Practical lessons consist of making up each other.
On completion of the course a certificate of attendance and competence will then be awarded. Students will be supplied with printed matter on makeups covered, but we suggest that in addition they take full notes and photographs to include in their portfolios. Students will be required to model for each other.
Students will be assessed not only on their makeup ability but also on their classroom conduct, cleanliness whilst working, and general safety and hygiene. During the course we will arrange a tour of a studio facility, subject to availability. Should the course fall on any public holidays, these shall be taken as days off.
Students will be held on our agency books as we are called upon from time to time to provide makeup artists with various levels of experience (refer to Students’ Achievements).
