Trainees design a show piece of hair, make-up, accessories, colours, style for other fellow trainees to follow. Having completed the show piece lecturers will inform the class of their strengths and weaknesses. A tutorial with the lecturer on the final term will enable you to repair any problems you may have, so your standard of make up and hair skills can be improved to received work experience (subject to availably and your personality, make up and hair ability) through our agency.

Trainees will learn:

  • the role of a fashion make up and hair artist
  • the importance of trends, colours, and image appreciation in fashion context
  • the history of fashion
  • understanding requirements of a fashion brief from various clients for various markets.

Nails can be heavily featured in magazines - students’ cover, filing, cuticles, moisturising, making up of hands and painting.

We highly recommend that students work hard to produce good quality make-ups to enable them to receive high standard portfolio pictures from the photographer. (All our photographers work independently from Brushstroke and can be booked prior to term 3).

Lecturers will guide you, ask you to correct any mistakes made before you work with your photographer. You will need to be able to take informative guidance from the photographer (if needed) and produce what he/she may ask you to correct to gain high standard pictures. Failing to do so, will lead to average quality results and to re-shoot will cost you more expense. Photo shoots are sometimes held at Brushstroke training school within the studios or a photography studio that is easily accessible. If you wish to use your own photographer or if you are a photographer we would ask to see examples of their/your work before, so as to continue the high standard.

After completing all combined make up and hairstyles, the lecturer covers all aspects of how and where to approach the industry. We suggest you take notes throughout the course and to use these as reference once you have completed the course.
